Question to our local business owners: Have you yet reclaimed the employee payroll taxes you paid out in 2020 and 2021?

We at the Gracious Nomad Academy(TM) are intent upon helping our residents navigate these challenging times by developing and implementing programs that are instrumental in effectively Renewing Our Community and Restoring the Velocity of Money in our local Economy.

One of the ways to accomplish that, as we have discovered, is by making sure that all of the Refundable Payroll Taxes paid out by small businesses during 2020 and 2021 are brought back to our town, to the businesses that paid out those funds in the first place, depleting their working capital to do so.

We have partnered with ERCTogether.com to facilitate the return of eligible payroll taxes paid out by businesses during the 2020 and 2021 lockdown as was provided for by Congress in the CARES Act.  This is one important way we can contribute toward restoring the velocity of money here in our local economy.

So my question to business owners and principals of franchises for national organizations is this:  Did you have between 5 and 500 W-2 employees retained in your business during the lockdown period in 2020 and 2021?

...if you did, then you paid payroll taxes to the IRS as quantified in your 940 and 941 tax forms that you filed for that year. These taxes are now refundable to you through the CARES Act enacted by Congress to compensate businesses that suffered because of the lockdown measures that were imposed at that time.

This refund is due to those businesses whether or not they took out a PPP loan that was subsequently forgiven. This is a separate benefit from the PPP loans provided for by the CARES Act.

The CARES Act was amended to include a wider swath of small businesses who now qualify for that refund, so if you were told early on that you did not qualify for a refund of the payroll taxes you paid, for whatever reason, it would be good to review your eligibility in light of those late changes.

The period of eligibility to reclaim the payroll taxes has a cutoff date. If you are eligible to receive those funds back in the form of a refundable tax credit, then it's important that you act immediately to collect your refund. There is no cost to apply, our fees are performance-based. We only get paid when we produce a result.
